Haha! xD Sweden here;D And what makes this more fun is that the folk tale that is mentioned isn't even Swedish, it's Danish;)

It's traditionally Swedish "the Princess who lays on the seven peas". Andersen stated he was inspired by it.

Marybell you should defend the honor of H.C. Andersen.

Anyway, yes, that's the reason why I chose the title "the princess who lays on the pea" instead of the more known title "The princess and the pea".

Apparently even though Andersen is the one who brought this tale to fame, there were many different versions circulating in the Scandinavian countries already (just like Cinderella and Sleeping beauty existed as folk tales in Italy before they became popular thanks to Perrault's version) .

The Swedish version is called: "the princess who lay on the seven peas", the protagonist is an orphan who relies on deception to be accepted as a princess following the suggestion of her cat.
