Nope, that's Cosimo de' Medici's name. One of my personal heroes... *_*
I don't read, in general, stuff that is written in form of trilogies or that is not written before the 1940... it's very rare that I would read contemporary literature. Overall I don't like plot driven stories and storytelling has gotten very much into it lately - but keeps failing the arcs! (even Rapunzel, sigh)
Maybe I should write "this night" but since it is a dream and grandpa is not there physically either I wanted the dream to feel like a real dream and sentences don't make real sense.
I will explain this better in the chapter curiosities... but apparently Kane keeps going back to his grandpa in his dream, to the night he died, it's like he summons him and ask him questions and the other party is completely aware of it and complaints XDDD but now someone else is taking grandpa's place in his life and the whole conversation is about "trust" shifting towards someone else.
p.s. another thing to consider: I don't believe in killing off characters... it's the easy way out.
Ask my students... I forbid them to kill off people and characters (except for winnie the pooh) in their stories... they have it toooough XDDDDD

yeah... I pondered about here and that for a very long time... but since it's a dream... it feels like Badia but it's not Badia... and there's a bridge and before you cross it you fall in water and there is always something in water... and in the dream Kane sees himself from the outside and floats... and things change shape... even words are weird.
Also this is the kind of dream you dream early in the morning... usually that stuff that is around you influences what you see in the dream because you are almost awake so you are aware and not aware of what your surroundings are.
In his case he is holding Castalia and that is why, in the dream, the brain kicks in and the person in his arms cannot be his grandpa anymore and melts into reality.
Also in early morning dreams your brain questions your choices... there is always something or someone very symbolic who shows up and asks you questions... if you manage to give the answer before you wake up and then remember the answer afterward you get to solve many problems in your life. But then you have to trust your answer all the way and follow it to the letter.
No need to apologize...
I am very old fashioned when it comes to readings and stuff like that XDD

So that's Cosimo... I wonder what brought him to this end... and what the transition to Castalia is about... will she perish too?
"AND dreams..."
*blinks* that's a hella sexy grandpa 8D even on his deathbed, probably missing some tooth and stinking to the heavens. His marbles seem to be in excellent conditions though :D.
And finally we hear the hero's real name ;D.
Plus sweet embrace dream-yet-not? scene at the end!
P.S.: 'that night'? What that night? The night when their mother was killed and he set the brothel on fire? Somehow I think it's not that one...
@Elianthos
So Kane's real name is Cosimo too? Dang, that name is popular...
I wonder if Deda got the name from Cornelia Funke's Inkworld trilogy...
@SCL: yes, that's his name :> . And the name of his first son... His grandpa's name must be Cosimo as well, and Kane's father's probably. A dinasty of Cosimos XD, as old times naming habits go.
@Deda: makes sense, but as opposite to the 'here' and 'now' of the dream 'that' night did threw me for a loop XD. Well done XD
UGHHHH I WANNA SEE KANES FACEE DAM SEXY LONG HAIR
Sorry about that reference, Deda, it was the only one I thought of, and definitely came to mind... I did like that series...
On another note, I wonder what Josh Habel's real name is... I already know that Callimaco (whom we have yet to meet) needs no alias... maybe his begins with a "C" too, to go with the theme (or is Mac--that's what I'm planning on calling him--really one of the Papadopulos family? I keep forgetting...)?
I like how wry gramps is in the fourth panel... and I do hope the lovin's sweet when it comes around...
............ is Kane at fault for his grandpa's death?! D8?!?! did he kill him??!
btw, I love this page, but the bubbles confused me a little ^^" took me a few minutes to decipher who was talking D8
